CURRENT POSITION

Serves as Assistant Professor of Business--Accounting at Edgewood College as one of the primary full-time faculty members teaching in the accounting curriculum.  Teaches Business 380-Intermediate Accounting I and crosslisted Graduate Business 703; Business 381—Intermediate Accounting II and crosslisted Graduate Business 704; Business 481--Auditing and crosslisted Graduate Business 706; Graduate Business 602--Accounting for Managers and Business 726, Advanced Accounting I.   Assists Department Chairman in hiring, orienting, observing and evaluating part-time accounting faculty. Has developed an updated Business 481 Auditing course.  Assisted in developing the accounting section of Business 501, Introduction to Graduate Business.  Developed and teaches the Business 120—Introduction to Business accounting module.  Assisted in developing Edgewood’s 150 credit accounting curriculum to comply with new State of Wisconsin regulatory education requirements for CPA exam candidates.

Assisted in developing the technical aspects of the office’s auditing practice, along with the initial program for recruiting professional staff from college campuses.  As a partner, had the overall responsibility for approximately 50 business and 50 individual clients.  Responsibilities also included review, educational and management in the Firm’s insurance practice.  Developed the largest insurance practice of all the offices nationwide of the Firm and served as a Firmwide concurring insurance company reviewer.  Designed, coordinated and conducted the Firm’s Insurance Industry Seminar Series from 1974 to 1996.  The six insurance industry specific programs served personnel from insurance companies, insurance regulatory departments, actuarial firms and CPA firms from coast to coast.  Also served a clientele of accounting and income tax clients.

Rural Mutual Insurance Company
Controller

Served as controller responsible for managing several departments totaling about 50 people.  Handled monthly and year-end financial reporting.  Served as Budget Manager of the Company.  Responsible for preparation of budget comprising 12 departments along with analysis of actual results compared to budget each month.  Developed a voucher payable system for the company to smooth the processing of corporate bills each month along with improvement in the cash flow control.  Instituted a line of business contribution margin profit system geared to measure the profitability of each of the Company’s insurance products.
