EDGEWOOD COLLEGE

B-SCHOOL

Accounting Graduate Program

Note from the Department:

Why choose Edgewood College for a Masters in Accountancy?

The MS – Accountancy Degree is the right choice if you are interested in obtaining a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license to practice public accounting in areas of assurance services and taxation. This Program will also provide the background  needed  if you aspire to executive leadership roles in private industry, in consulting or in the governmental sector.

CPA Exam: By completing the program, you will have earned the prerequisite 150 credits to sit for the CPA Exam.

The “New Bar”:  A 2008 small, informal survey of the major accounting firms in Madison revealed that more than half of the new hires from 2007 held advanced degrees.  Employers value the skill development and the additional breadth and depth of knowledge gained from an advanced degree.  .  A Madison CPA Partner shared with us that “... (A student’s) education in the 5 year program takes them beyond the textbooks and CPA exam-they actually think more like a business (person).”

Outstanding Faculty:  Award-winning faculty combine their own real-world experiences with the educational foundation necessary to give you the right balance of theory and practice.

Designed for Working Professionals:  Classes are held in the evenings, year round, allowing you to enter the program during the fall, spring or summer, without interrupting your current career.

Exceptional Curriculum:  Accounting is one of the most challenging and rewarding majors on campus.  Specialized courses have been designed to prepare you for the market place and further your chances for more rapid career advancement.   Small class sizes allow faculty to provide individualized instruction.

Job Opportunities:  Career opportunities with an MS Accountancy degree are expansive.  CPA firms visit our campus for “Meet the Firm” night in the fall which allows students to learn more about the firms in our area.  This is followed by on-campus interviews for both internships and full time opportunities.    International experiences  are also encouraged.
