BIOGRAPHY

Steven J. Schaefer practices law with Schaefer Law Office, Madison, Wisconsin.  During the past twenty years, he has represented clients in all aspects of civil litigation and concentrates his practice in the area of employment law, representing parties involved in discrimination disputes.  In 1973, he received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in economics and graduated with Distinctive Scholastic Achievement, Phi Beta Kappa, and Kappa Kappa Gamma.  In 1977, Mr. Schaefer received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, graduating cum laude.  He completed his M.A. in business administration from Edgewood College in August 1997.  From 1977 to 1980, Mr. Schaefer acted as the Assistant City Attorney for Beaver Dam and Fox Lake, Wisconsin.  He was a member of the City of Madison Parks Commission (1981-86), the City of Madison Planning Commission (1982-85), and the State of Wisconsin Board of Nursing (1983-85).  Mr. Schaefer has authored several articles and frequently speaks about employment-related issues.  Mr. Schaefer teaches Legal Aspect of Employment at the Edgewood College Graduate and Business I in Undergraduate Business Programs.  He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Dane County Bar Association and the Western District of Wisconsin Bar Association.  He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
